Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start therapy or assessment with you?
We know that the therapeutic relationship is an important piece of the healing process. Thus, I recommend that we connect by phone prior to our initial session to discuss your current needs and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.
Please call me at 415-524-7882 or book a phone consultation using the button on the contact page so we can explore options. After our initial conversation, I will share my ideas for treatment and we can decide if I am a good fit for you and your family.
-
If I do not feel that I can provide your family the highest quality treatment or if you decide that we are not a good fit for any reason, I will offer you names of other therapists in the community. However, it is your responsibility to vet them fully and ensure they meet your needs
Do you take insurance?
At this point in time, I am not in-network with any insurance panels. If you have a PPO and have out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance. However, it is your responsibility to check your current benefits and to inquire at the rate of reimbursement, which is likely different than my fee.
How long are sessions and what is the session price?
Sessions are 50 minutes and are $250.
How much does testing cost? How many hours does it take?
At this point in time, I only offer comprehensive testing at a flat fee $5800. Testing includes interviews, actual testing time in my office, preschool, school, and/or home observation, and report writing. The amount of hours required depends on the assessment question and the amount of testing required, but often includes around 9-12 hours of in person time and 16-24 hours of work in total (interviews, testing, scoring, and report writing). Half of the fee is due at the beginning of the testing process and half will be required before the report is released.
What type of approach do you use for therapy?
My main approach is an integrative client-centered, humanistic therapy with elements of CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, regulation, CPP, psychodynamic, and other aspects. So what does that mean in english? It means that I strive to create an authentic healing relationship with every client and that I bring in aspects from multiple different theories depending on what your child is dealing with.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24 hours notice for cancellation but of course appreciate as much time as possible. If you need to cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged the full fee for your session time. However, we can move this to a telephone session if you are available. Extraordinary situations including hospitalization, natural disasters, etc will of course be taken into consideration.
What can I expect at my first session?
Before our first session, I will send you an invitation to set up a secure client portal. Once you set up an account and login, initial paperwork will be there for your to review and complete. This will include informed consent, information on HIPPA, and other important information. We will review these items in our session briefly but please complete these prior to our first meeting so we can dive straight into treatment.
